It's Been A While!

It has been a while since I have done a post. I have had some health issues, so it has been difficult to post. We were also busy with a student from Japan staying with us for the past week. I have not been able to sew or work on my dios, so this has been quite a disappointment for me especially as I have seen so many great things coming from you guys. I will try to do better. I have several things planned including working on the story for the Winthrop-Carter family. I have been working on the script, but haven't taken any pictures yet or finished the dios.

For today, I would like to show you the new clothes I got for my Lammily dolls and some new fashionistas.

First, Katie asked her friend Miranda (Randi) to help her model the new clothes:

Miranda (Randi) is a Style Teresa rebodied on a Lammily Body. She is Katie's friend.

Katie in Exploring Rio

Randi in A Stroll Through Paris

Randi in Rocking London and Katie in Celebrating Denmark

Rocking London and Celebrating Denmark without jackets
I like most of these outfits, but I think Celebrating Denmark is a bit on the frumpy side -- more suited to an older lady. I also notice that the sweaters are both turtle necks. I hope to make them some clothes in the very near future that shows off the Lammily figure better.

I also purchased the newest trio of Fashionista dolls:

"Albino" Fashionista on a 2015 Style Barbie body; Barbie Fashionista on a 2015 Style Barbie Body; AA Fashionista on a Baby Phat Chandra body

A closer look at their faces

Last, but not least on this post, I mentioned that we had a Japanese student stay with us for a week (just last week!) On her last night, she made us a traditional Japanese dish called Okonomiyaki which was a favorite of my eldest daughter on her trip to Japan last summer. Anyway, it is a cabbage pancake basically. Here is a picture of one below:

Okonomiyaki (Cabbage Pancake)
This was so yummy!

That is all for now -- I didn't want you all to think I had dropped off of the face of the earth! Hope to post more soon!

  2. Great to hear from you! I hope you are feeling better....it can be hard to do anything when you don't feel good. How exciting to have a Japanese student stay with you guys and cook for you!
The Lammily outfits are pretty nice.. It's so interesting to see the clothes on a "normal" body shape.
Also, congrats on the new Barbies-I think this new Barbie face is so pretty!

    1. Thank you for the well wishes. I think my favorite Lammily outfit is the "Strolling Through Paris" outfit. Yes, I am really loving the new Barbie face and am so happy to see them introducing other new faces as well. There are a few more coming out yet this year.

    1. I think my favorite is the "Strolling Through Paris" outfit. I may give the Celebrating Denmark one to an "older" doll if it will fit any that I have.

  4. You know, I realized I like Lammily with a different head. Her original one just looks very much like someone I hate. My favourite outfit is Paris. I would like to see the denim trousers and jacket together. Love the new Fashionistas, too bad they come on wooden bodies! Does the middle one have black streaks at the back of the hair?

    1. Yes, I am really glad that I decided to swap heads on one of the Lammily's I had. Randi has a perkier more youthful look to her. I will definitely do some mixing and matching with these outfits. The middle one has a dark brown section of hair in the back, but underneath the blond hair, so you don't see it from the back of her head.

  5. Hi Phyllis, beautiful outfits, I love the concept and the realization of each of them! I don't think that Celebrating Denmark is frumpy, maybe the empire waist doesn't befit the Lammily body.
I like Randy a lot, Lammily body gives a new range of rebodying options.

  6. Hi Phyllis, hope your health improves as the balmy spring weather comes in. Thanks for showing the Lammily clothes. I've been watching them on the Lammily site but since they had to delay shipments at least once, I wasn't sure whether they would actually be ready.

In the Caribbean there is a word for light-skinned women of color with curly/ kinky blonde hair -- chabine. I couldn't believe Mattel made a chabine Barbie when I first saw her. I think she is very pretty, though.

    1. Glad you like my selection of Lammily clothes. I think this will give me a good base to start some clothing options for them. Thanks for sharing the Caribbean word for the light-skinned AA Barbie. I love it! Chabine! I will refer to her with that description from now on.

  7. Hope you feel better soon!

Lammily is probably relieved to have a friend with a similar body type, though I don't think I'm up for moving people onto non-articulated bodies! The girls do look better in clothes designed for them. The clothing line reminds me of how the Latter Day Saints girls out here dress, so I just see Celebrating Denmark as a "go to church" outfit.

    Chabine Barbie is so adorable!

    1. Thanks for stopping by. The Lammily body does have some articulation but it is covered with the rubbery skin giving her some limitations. She can bend her knees and elbows and wrists. Because she has a plumper body shape, I wanted to have her in my collection.

  8. That's a nice collection of new outfits for the Lammily bodies (and I really like how the body looks with an alternate head as well). I'm still on the fence about the line myself, but seeing your photos has really opened my eyes to the possibilities.

    Hope you're feeling better!

  9. I hope you are feeling a 100% real soon. Thanks for sharing the Lammily wardrobe. Maybe the Denmark outfit would be better suited for a Happy Family Grandma. Everything else looks really nice Congrats on getting your new ladies.

  10. I like some of these fashions. I do think Denmark is kind of an older style. I really like a Stroll Through Paris.

That cabbage pancake looks good. I would try it. I like cabbage.

  11. Hi Phyllis, welcome back. Hope you're feeling better. I don't really collect Lammily & friends, but for me, I prefer the "Celebrating Denmark" dress without the jacket. The more simple the better. Happy Easter.

  13. I hadn't eaten when I saw this post and the pancake really called to me. What is the sauce on it? Glad you found the new fashionista! I only saw one thus far and would like to get more. I think this is the first time Mattel to a " black head sculpt" and did it in a very light complexion. They have normally did the reverse.
I like the lammily outfits. Are the teen dolls or are they older? Like that you rebodied a Mattel head too. Was it hard to do? Are the neck knobs comparable? If the lammily dolls are teens, then the hem on the outfits are too long. That and the shoes are what is making it read older. A short skirt, tights and flats are a yes for teens. A knee length dress needs high heels to make it look youthful. The first two outfits look good as is.

    1. The sauce is called Okinomi sauce. Our student brought all of the ingredients with her from Japan. We also had thin strip of Pork on the bottom (not bacon like they show when you look them up online). Here is a place to order the ingredients from if you don't have a local Japanese source: http://okonomiyakiworld.com/buy-okonomiyaki-online.html. I will be ordering the Okonomiyaki flour and Tenkasu as I already have the sauce. It was so yummy!

  14. You sound as though you have been very busy as well as having health issues. Hopefully, you will have time to relax now and will soon be feeling better. There is some great detail on those Lammily fashions like the denim jacket and the Paris outfit. I'm sure once you get sewing and mix those pieces up with some of your own, style them differently, they will all look great.

  16. Glad to see you feeling well enough to sneak in a post- hope you're at 100% soon. I like the Paris fashion. I agree that the Denmark dress looks frumpy on her. That Style Teresa looks great rebodied on the Lammily body.
