A Few More New Dolls

Yeah, I know I said I was gonna have to curtail my doll buying. But, I got a gift card from Amazon from my daughter and I had some Discovercard credits that I just had to use up on Amazon! So, of course, I spent them on some new dolls. Here is what I got:

The 3 Resort Style dolls - Summer, Grace and Barbie
These dolls all come in bathing suits with coverups and sandals. Barbie has a big hat. they all have articulated arms, but they have stiff legs with flat feet.

Here they all are out of the box and dressed
Don't they look cute? I think I like Grace's outfit the best, but I also really like Summer's pants.

Here are their sandals
Sorry this picture is a bit blurry, but the sandals are all really cute too. Again, I like Grace's the best. I also think the little black ones that Barbie is wearing are really cute too.

Next I got Princess Power Ken and Barbie Style Nikki
I was disappointed to see that Ken's outfit was all one piece. I like for him to have separates as it gives you more options. I do like his glasses, but they stick in the side of his head. I cut off the little barbs that held them in place. Since he has a completely stiff body, I don't plan to keep him, just his clothes and glasses.

And now, out of their boxes!

I like Nikki's outfit, but her hair is not the best. It is uneven and kind of snarled. I will probably give her a shampoo or maybe a boil perm and try to restyle it. Oh, she also came with a pair of little black boots.

I also got a Barbie Style Grace!
Close up of Grace. I think she has a very pretty face

Barbie Style Grace has the full articulation including the jointed ankles. Since I wanted Resort Style Grace to be able to wear her sandals and have full articulation, I gave her this Grace's body. I had a Baby Phat Grace available as a donor, so Barbie Style Grace got that body. Here she is!

Here is Resort Style Grace with Barbie Style Grace's body

I really like Resort Style Grace with this body. I also love her hair. She may be my favorite Grace now!

I do have a few of the new Fashionistas on backorder from Barbiecollector.com. Starting last year, I stocked up on articulated bodies, so I will be able to give the new Fashionistas articulated bodies when they arrive.

Well, that is it for now!

Thanks for stopping by. I love getting your comments!

  1. Congratulations on all your purchases. I stumbled on to the Grace with flat feet and bought her. I hear she is in demand.

    1. The one with the jointed ankles? Yes, she is in demand. I guess they are starting to show up in the stores now, but I haven't seen her anywhere. I got her at Amazon, but the prices on her have now gone up to about $40 already. Both the Grace and Nikki Style dolls with all the joints are on the Mattel website, but are out of stock. Mattel should take that as a hint that articulated dolls are in demand!

  2. Great purchases. Definitely some hit and misses on Mattel's part. The resort dolls are cute. Does stiff legs mean they don't move at all? Not even clickable? If so, why would they do that? I guess they want the dolls to be able to stand on their own. They need to find a better way. And that poor Ken doll. They could have at least bent his arms a little bit. He looks so unnatural standing there. I may have to add one of the Barbie Style with the jointed ankles. That's a nice feature.

    1. Yeah, totally stiff, not even click knees. At least they don't have the distorted torso. I took the jointed Barbie legs from the Movie Director doll and swapped them to the Barbie resort doll. There is a Nikki Director doll with the jointed legs too, but she is lighter complected than the Grace doll. I wish Mattel wouldn't do that! Dolls with jointed arms and stiff legs, and dolls with jointed legs and stiff arms -- come on, get it right!

  3. Resort Style Grace with her new articulation is EXCELLENT. I think Grace has the best of the new face-ups.

At first glance, I thought poor stiff Ken had to be a character from some specific movie, he is sooooo stiff.

    1. Yes, Ken is from Princess Power. Mattel really has cheaped him up. The glasses had to be cut off, and he is totally stiff! I mean, it would be okay if he were a zombie!

  4. This is the first I have ever heard of Grace...I love her! She is so pretty. I love seeing all of your new Barbies. I grew up loving barbie and my sister and I played for hours with them. I haven't decided if I want to collect them again as there are so many other dolls on my list, but I may just have to get that Barbie style Grace if I can find her. I have always loved Summer as well and she looks pretty cute with her bangs. :). Xo

    1. Grace was originally of the S.I.S. dolls. There was Grace, Kara, Chandra and Marissa. There was also one guy in the line named Darren. Mattel has discontinued the S.I.S. dolls and brought Grace into the Style line up.

  6. Barbie Style Grace is really cute. You have started off when a whole slew of dolls. I was in Walmart today and didn't see anything new, not even the 18' doll that want to come live here in Dotsville,.lol. I guess that's a good thing.

  9. Nice haul! I'm glad to read that you got your dolls before the Amazon prices climbed to ridiculousness- $40 a doll, puh-lease! Resort Grace has my favorite face of the bunch, but I don't think she will be coming to live in Dollton. Right now my sights are set on the new Tris doll from the movie Insurgent. And I shake my head every time I look at that Ken doll in stores. Mattel should be ashamed.

    1. Chris, that is a great sweater, isn't it? I see these dolls are now back in stock at Mattel.com. I also don't know why Mattel is not offering more articulated Ken dolls and why so much of the clothing is so cheaply made. :(

  13. I haven't seen these in stores yet and probably wont get any, but now that I know they exist, I want to see them in person, lol.

  16. Hey Phyllis. Great buys. I agree, the barbie style Grace is really pretty and she has landed on my wish list. The resort dolls are very cool, I like Summer's pants too, Barbie's shorts and hat and Grace's sandals. Too bad we can't mix and match. :)

    1. They have that "My Style" doll, but the choices are very limited. Too bad they don't let you pick the level of articulation (or just articulated Y/N!), the face sculpt, hair and then some really good fashion choices! Thanks for stopping by!

  19. Hi Phyllis. For awhile, I had a serious addiction to the S.I.S dolls. I'm really lucky I bought them when I did because some have natural hair (rare) and one even has a shorter hairstyle (rare) and none of them cost me very much. On the other hand, I've never warmed up to Nicki. I can't say I like the Ken dolls with the molded hair either (except for few vintage dolls). I bought a couple with rooted hair just before they stopped making them. What you can do with your Ken doll's clothes is to take them apart and use for a pattern to make better clothes! Big hugs.

  20. I don't have any of the S.I.S. dolls with shorter hair, but I do have a few with the more natural hair. Good idea about taking apart Ken's clothes and using them as a pattern.
