Fashionistas Galore!

In my previous post, I told you that even though I haven't posted to my blog in a while, it doesn't mean that I wasn't doing my part for the economy. I have purchased just a few new dolls!

The new line of Barbie Fashionistas has definitely been quite a nice surprise. Here are some of the new dolls I have purchased in the last couple of months.

From L to R: Rock & Roll Plaid, Floral Flair, Barbie Careers Presidential (Pack 3) Vice President, Lacey Blue
Perhaps one of the first things you will notice is that they all have been rebodied. None of these come with articulation in their original state. The first 3 ladies received Made to Move bodies, while Lacey Blue got a body from the Barbie Look Urban Jungle doll. I am not one to dilly-dally when it comes to having articulation for my dolls. While I love the new body types, I have enough other petite (like Momoko) and tall (like Fashion Royalty) dolls that it doesn't matter too much to keep those body sizes. On the other hand, I do love the Curvy bodies, so most of those still have their original bodies.

L to R Back Row: Chiffon Ball Gown Barbie, Chic with a Wink, Pretty in Paisley, Pizza Pizzazz, Dolled Up In Denim.  Front Row: Barbie Glitz Doll AA, B Fabulous
All of these ladies are on MTM bodies except for Dolled Up In Denim who is on the Barbie Look Night Out doll and Barbie Glitz who is on a Barbie Style Nikki body. All of these ladies are either in their original fashion or an outfit from one of the new line of Barbie clothes.

L to R: Geometric Print skirt, Fab Fringe, Hunger Games Effie
All of these ladies are on MTM bodies. The Geometric Print gal is wearing a new Barbie Fashion and Fab Fringe and Effie are wearing Sparkle Girlz clothes.

L to R: Barbie Careers Game Developer, Va-Va-Violet, MTM Redhead, So Sporty
They are all on Made to Move bodies and wearing some of the new Barbie fashions. So Sporty was originally a Curvy girl, but somehow, she seemed to be screaming for a MTM body and I a glad I heard her! She looks awesome on this body.

L to R: The Barbie Look Festival, The Barbie Look Party Perfect
They are both in their original outfits. Party perfect is on a Lea headmold and I think she really looks great with this hair color.

L to R: Love That Lace, White & Pink Pizzazz, Terrific in Teal
White & Pink Pizzazz in on the Barbie Look Sweet Tea body and the other two are on MTM bodies. Their clothes are all from the new Barbie Fashions.

L to R: Made to Move Orange Top, Leather & Ruffles
Leather and Ruffles was on my must have list, but it was taking very long to get her from Mattel. I was able to get her from Amazon. She was a perfect match for the MTM Orange top body, so she got one. They both have the same facemold, so I think I might make them twins, each with their own unique style.

L to R: Princess Candy, Crazy for Coral
Princess Candy is the first one of the "Anna" facemold that has light blond hair and pale skin. I really had to have her after seeing her photos on Flickr. Crazy for Coral was a perfect match for the MTM Orange Top, so she managed to get one of those bodies.

L to R: Boho Fringe, Blue Violet
These ladies are wearing fashions from the new Barbie fashions. They both got MTM bodies as well.

  1. They're all looking great! How many rebodies did you do in total?

    1. Thanks! I am not really sure how many, but just on the Fashionistas for 2016, I probably did between 25 and 30! Do you think Mattel planned it this way so they would sell more dolls? I mean giving all of the new dolls stiff bodies and then offering more skintones in articulated bodies -- well it makes me kind of wonder if it is intentional!

    2. Wow, you must have quite the articulated army now!

And I can see how that would work as a sales tactic too - I'm feeling the temptation to do some body swaps myself...

  2. First of all....always nice to see a post from you, Phyllis. Your new girls look great, especially in their new articulated bodies! I see "body fever" is raging in your household as well. (I just gave one of my So In Style Barbies an FR Poppy Parker body.) Wouldn't it be nice if Mattel and Integrity Toys were to simply sell bodies!!?!

    1. Thanks April! Yes, I've got "body fever" for sure! I know that IT sometimes offers replacement bodies to W Club members, but Mattel never does. I would love it if they would just offer bodies in a wide variety of skintones! It would make a lot of us happy, wouldn't it?!

  4. Nice post Phyllis! I love all of your new Fashionistas!! I have a few of the same ones, but have not decided if I will rebody them or not. I am finally getting Fab Fringe and I can't way. I ordered her from Walmart.com and she is due for pick up on Wednesday. Yay! Leather and Ruffles and MTM orange are the next two that I plan to purchase. The curvy girls in my house will remain as such, except for a head change. I love my curvy divas!! :-)

    1. It took me a while to get all of them. To help pay for my dolls, I have an Amazon credit card with award points. I used the card to get everything from gas to groceries and them pay the bill right away. What I end up with is a lot of bonus dollars from Amazon and I use them towards my dolls. I don't feel quite so guilty that way and it really does save a lot of money as long as you pay the bill right away.

  5. So many Barbies to drool over! Quite a few of these I haven't even seen in my stores yet. Did you change Effie's coloring? I thought she had white face paint.

    1. Nope, that is Effie's original coloring. She is actually a very good match for the Lea MTM skintone.

    2. Yes, I took advantage of a "50% off on the second item" offer for my two MTM (Lea and Teresa) that are going to become body donators.

  8. It's so good to see a post from you! I had been wondering for weeks what you were up to and who had come to live in Hanaly Corners. You have quite the collection of ladies to show off. What I love most of all is what you've done with that chiffon ball gown doll. I did a triple take...I didn't even recognize her...Wow!

    1. I am glad that you stopped by to say hi! We have had so much going on lately, but I am going to start posting more. I have so many stories running around in my head. The difficulty is getting all of the props done for them. I do love how the Chiffon Ball Gown doll looks on the MTM body and redressed and restyled a bit. I am glad you like her!

  9. Phyllis, I'm thinking 'galore' is an understatement. You have really grown your collection. You are really enjoying the MTM bodies and it looks like a lot of the ladies are too. I'm looking forward to seeing more stories.

    1. Yup, I have really been doing that! Every time Mattel comes out with a new doll lately, I can literally hear my wallet scream! I am not sure when I will be publishing my next story, but I am working on it! You know how hard it is to get all the dio stuff done!

  10. Love them all! I am so tempted to get the MTM orange top now so that my petite Crazy for Coral doll can have articulation, but I guess that would defeat the purpose of having a petite doll. I'll have to think about that one. :)

    1. I have been thinking of kit bashing a Skipper to have the petite body, the arms of one of the older style dolls that did not have articulated legs and the legs from an articulated Skipper. I haven't done this before, but I have seen it done quite well by others (the kit bashing thing, not this combination!)

  11. I love the new girls! It's great to see them all in their new bodies. I have only done 1 so far, but I have a whole stack waiting, lol. I have also been considering getting the Candy Princess Barbie as she's so cute. :)

    1. Mind you, it did take me several months to collect all of these ladies! I ended up using bonus dollars from both my Amazon card and my Discover card to make many of these doll purchases. I love the Candy Princess on her new body! I think she is pretty happy too!

  12. What made to move doll did you use as a body donor for "So sporty"?

  13. They all look great! MTM body is my favourite now:) I'd love to have the Redhead but she just isn't available where I live:/

  14. Hi! Congratulations on your new acquisitions and thank you very much for sharing these fabulous photos of your new Fashionistas. Here in Spain, it is not possible to see them all together in the toy stores. For this reason it is very useful for me to see pictures of real dolls and not their prototypes. Thanks again. Hugs!

  15. Hey! Hi, I want to change the barbie game developer to a M2M body that I'll have to puchase online, can you please tell me, whis is the best option to match the skin tone? Thank you!
