Gabby Douglas Doll Petition

Thanks to Debbie Garrett of Black Doll Collecting, we have been made aware of a petition for Mattel to product a limited edition version of their Shero doll of Gabby Douglas.
Here is the link to that petition:

2016 Birthday Giveaway!

Wow, this summer is flying by! As promised, I am doing a Birthday Giveaway. My birthday  was July 13, but we have been very busy since then. We left on July 15 to go to Grand Rapids, Michigan where my eldest daughter will be attending college at Kendall School of Art and Design. We signed the lease on her apartment which she will be sharing with her best friend. After that, we went to my nieces home in Grand Ledge, Michigan where we had a big family gathering. It was so good to see my siblings and the nieces and nephews as well as some of their kids. We had a lot of fun and good food. After we got home, my SIL called to tell us my brother had been admitted to the hospital with a perforated bowel. He is doing better now and was able to come home this past Tuesday.

We have also been busy shopping for things for my daughter's apartment as well as going through my boxes of stuff to put together things she will need for her apartment. We were able to gather together enough dishes and silverware to stock their kitchen. She will be moving in to her apartment the last week of August. I am not sure I am ready for this!

Now for Birthday Giveaway.  I will be giving away the 3 dolls shown below:

Barbie® Fashionistas™ Doll 26 Spring Into Style - Curvy

The Divergent Series: Insurgent Tris Doll

The Barbie Look City Shine Redhead 2015

Now, how this one will work. You will have 2 weeks to enter. You will enter by posting a comment on this post and indicate that you wish to enter in the drawing.

On August 11, I will draw 1 name. The name drawn will have one week to respond and will tell me which doll they would like to receive. Once they have responded, I will draw the second name who will again have 1 week to respond with their choice from the remaining 2 dolls. Once they have selected, I will draw the 3rd name who will also have 1 week to respond. They will receive the last doll. All dolls are NRFB and I personally think they are all beautiful!

This giveaway is open to all US and International readers of my blog.

Good Luck to all!

My Birthday and a New Giveaway!

Today was my birthday! Yup, another year has gone by. My daughters made it a very, very nice day for me! First, they gave me flowers. Then, the oldest one made me breakfast. Then they gave me presents. From Hannah (the youngest) I got a very pale pink denim jacket with a flowing printed tank top. She also brought me an "ice cap" (it is kind of like a frappe) from Tim Hortons (both of them are working there) when she got home from work.

Alyssa (the oldest) got me a blue and white tie dye kimono cardigan, an owl printed bib apron and an original piece of artwork done by herself! Then Hannah took me to a movie (we saw the new Tarzan movie) and they both took me out to dinner. Oh, and Alyssa made me a yummy cheesecake!

They both took a lot of time to get me something they thought I would like and that meant a lot to me. They said that my dolls didn't need any more stuff  and that they wanted me to have something just for me! They made this day something very special for me. So much so, that I decided to do a birthday giveaway! We are leaving tomorrow to sign the lease on Alyssa's apartment for college this fall and then we are getting together with my family for a summer party. I won't be back until Monday, but I will let you know what is in the giveaway when we get back!

To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before!

Yes, I finally got my Star Trek trio! They were back ordered twice even though I ordered them on the day they came out. This always seems to be the case with The Barbie Collection.com now. Anyway, they came on Saturday. So here is a picture of them all:

Commander Spock, Lieutenant Uhura, Captain James T Kirk
Their uniforms are excellent replicas of what they wore in the original series. They all carry Communicators. Kirk has a Phaser and Uhura has a Tricorder. All of these items are true to form from the original series.

Commander Spock is giving the Vulcan salute for "Live Long and Prosper".
Here are some close up photos of each of the characters:
The sculpt of Commander Spock has done justice to the character. From his pointed ears to the slanted brows, I think Leonard Nimoy would be pleased is he were still alive.

Lieutenant Uhura is a very good likeness of the character from the original series. The accuracy is spot on right down to the hair and even the earrings.  Mattel did Nichelle Nichols proud!

Captain Kirk? I would have to squint a lot to recognize this sculpt as Jame T. Kirk. Mattel did not do such a good job in replicating Bill Shatner's rugged good looks in his hay day of playing the daring Kirk. I was a little disappointed.

You may be asking, what bodies did they give them! I will warn you that the next couple of photos are of naked dolls, so if this offends you, stop now and don't look any further!

Spock and Kirk have the same body, so I am only showing Kirk here. As you can see, he has the Harley Ken body. Uhura on the other hand, has a similar body to Wonder Woman.
Her feet are high heeled feet with no ankle articulation

Her thighs are not articulated. Her knees are Made to Move.

She has Made to Move arms and Fashionista hands. She does not have a moveable torso.

All in all, I am pretty happy with these characters. They are pretty good representations of the Star Trek original characters. I am happy I ordered them!

Live long and prosper!
