New Fashionistas!

Hello, its me! I know I haven't been very active lately, although I have been reading many of your blogs and making some comments. The last couple of months have been a bit tough for me healthwise. I had my annual physical, and I knew I was having some health issues. It seems that there was something wrong with about every test, so I have been to all the specialties. Heart, lungs, gastrointestinal, Obgyn and rheumatology. They have put me through so many invasive tests. I sometimes wonder how in the world they come up with them. I mean, there has to be a better way to prep for a colonoscopy! The prep is what will kill you! I also had a biospy in my temple and had part of my hair shaved off. I am being treated for temporal arteritis which required the use of steroids which started at extremely high doses and that seemed to cause me so many other issues! I am working through it all and now that I am tapering off of the steroids a bit, I am feeling a bit better. Don't worry though, I am not going anywhere!

So, since I really didn't feel up to going out of the house to shop, I did take advantage of online shopping. Amazon had many of the new Fashionistas, so, of course, I had to have some of them! I think the post office has just built a conveyor belt to my front door to deliver all of the packages. 😏🚐

I will share with you the first arrivals.

All have been rebodied, and some redressed.
I am giving you the particulars on each doll below. I hope you enjoy!

Well, that is it for the first batch! Trust me, there is more to come! I mean, what else was I gonna do? I love dolls! Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my new dolls.

    1. I guess it is all a part of aging, right??? That is what I keep telling myself! Now that my hair is starting to grow back out where they shaved it, I have kind of a funky new hair style too!

  2. I am thrilled to see that, despite everything that's been going on, you are still in good spirits. Shopping is one way I entertain myself during the summer months, so I can relate. Thanks for sharing your haul. I have some customizations to share and of course my BC.com order- hopefully soon.

    1. I do try my best to keep my spirits up. One of my docs told me that I had every right to complain with everything that was going on, but he was happy that I did my best to look at the positive side of things!

  3. As someone with a mystery chronic illness, I can definitely relate! I'm sorry you've been going through the medical wringer, but glad to hear that you are ultimately going to be okay! Dolls are really a great way to pass the time :) Looks like some great additions and I can't wait to see the rest!

  4. Phyllis, I'm so happy to see a post from you. You, like others in our community with health issues are a good reminder of the role dolls play in bringing joy particularly during trying times. Looks like you're having Christmas in June. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy those pretty Fashionistas!!!

    1. Yes, our dolls do have a way of giving us joy through some difficult times. I am definitely enjoying getting new dolls! This year is a milestone year for me - I will will be 65 in July (I can hardly believe it, but it is true). So I am making it my Birthday year and really treating myself well on the dolly front! I am glad Mattel had been bringing out so many new dolls -- do you think they did it for my birthday???

    1. Yes, I saw all of the new Kens and have ordered them from Mattel shop! Free shipping on all of them even though it may take a while for them to get here!

  6. I am so sorry to hear about your health challenges and the poking and prodding you've undergone to get to the crux of the problems. I agree about the colonoscopy prep. I am due for one this year I think and do not look forward to it because of the prep. Goodness, there has to be a better way.

I really like what you've done with the new girls. Thanks for the heads up on the IT bodies. I purchased two this morning. :-) Didn't expect to be enabled by coming here, but it happens. :-) I look forward to seeing what you do with the other dolls that will or have already arrived. Take care of yourself.

    1. Thanks, Brini! My dolls do give me much pleasure and they help me a lot, but also have friends out in the blogosphere who I know care about me also is a big help! Thanks!

  9. Unfortunately dolls are not a cure all, but they sure do help us enjoyably pass the time and focus on other things. Sorry to hear about your health issues.

    1. That is exactly what they do for me. And, since I am unable to do a lot of the things I used to do because of my health, it is a help to me that the dolls are something I am able to do and that I enjoy so much!

  10. Great haul, Phyllis! The only new one I've gotten so far is Tropi-cutie...I saw her reappear briefly on Amazon so I snagged her! She's so cute. Thanks for the heads up about the IT body! I'm still waiting for a darker skintone MTM!!
I really hope your health issues clear up soon. I know steroids really mess with everything! Hopefully you will not have to be on them for too long.
I hope your daughters are doing well!

    1. Thanks, Farrah! I have been a maniac lately with my doll shopping! 🤑😵. Unfortunately, it is going to be a while before I can get the steroid dosage down enough to get rid of some of the side effects. I feel like a puffer fish with how swollen my face and body have become! Anyway, I get to go down to 25 mgs next week, so I hope that helps!

  11. I am travelling and am just catching up with my doll lover friends and blogs today. I am so sorry to hear about your health issues! Dolls are the best therapy. I'm looking forward to a long day of playing with mine when I get home just to get over the travel stress. I hope you're feeling better soon and the invasive tests stop. There is truly nothing worse than preparing for a colonoscopy! Yuck!!!! Been there, done that...

    1. Fortunately, the colonoscopy went well so I won't need another one of those for 5 years! Still working through the other health concerns, but I am feeling a bit better now that they are ramping down my steroid dosage. Will be having a cervical biopsy in August (that was the soonest I could get it on the schedule) and then, hopefully that will be it for a while! Thank you so much for your concern!

  12. Hi Phyllis! I hadn't read this post until today, and I'm so sorry that you're not feeling well. I hope you recover soon!

That's a great haul, I really love the afro hair girl. I wonder if she will match the music teacher AA Barbie skintone...

Hope I can hear from you soon!

    1. The music teacher AA Barbie is too dark for her. I don't think that there is a current Mattel body that matches her, but I got the Dynamite Girls AA body from IT for only $15. It was a great match!
