Wonder Woman Collector Dolls

Yes, I had to! I did get the entire collection of the Wonder Woman dolls from The Barbie Collection. Twice. One set to keep intact, the other to redress and otherwise modify to fit into the Hanaly Corners neighborhood. So, here we go!

Here is a group photo of the entire series.
The Paradise Island Gift set packaging was actually pretty awesome! It make a nice background for photos.

I released Steve from his packaging entrapments and sat him on the rock. He looks in awe and the beautiful island princess.

Next, I released Princess Diana.

I placed all of them in the Paradise Island background.
I removed all the dolls from their clothing and redressed them in casual clothing. Queen Hippolyta and General Antiope are dressed in Fashions from the 2016 IT convention. Steve Trevor had whatever clothes I could find quickly for my male dolls. Note that he is hands are gloved and they are not easy to get off, but I will do so at a future date. In the meantime, I might rebody him on a Texas A&M Ken doll body. Wonder Woman Paradise Island is dressed in an outfit from one of the new Barbie Fashion packs.

General Antiope received a hair cut. I also unbraided her hair and boilwashed it. I really like the sassy short cut on her.

Many have questioned whether or not Antiope and Hippolyta are the same face mold. Seeing them side by side, I see differences in them that make me believe they are NOT, even though they are quite similar. From these views, you can see that their nose angles are quite different as are the angles of their chins. Antiope appears to have a wider jaw line than Hippolyta and their eyes and lips look different to me as well. What do you think???

  1. I see similarities, which I expect since they are supposed to be sisters but I think Hippolyta has a higher forehead and a different nose. Does Steve Trevor have a unique sculpt? I couldn't tell from his promo pics.

    1. I agree, I think they look similar as they are supposed to be sisters, but I definitely think they are different sculpts. Yes, Steve Trevor has a unique sculpt.

  2. The dolls look amazing! I have purchased the blue dress/hidden sword Diana, but have not unboxed her yet. She was the only one I managed to snag. I love seeing yours all in new clothing too! Antiope's new hair and new dress definitely suit her!

    1. I do have the Hidden Sword Diana too. She was released earlier as part of the playline collection from DC Comics. She has a very different body than these dolls do and the clothing in that line is much, much cheaper made. But, they are very nice dolls too! I did post some photos of them on Flickr.

    1. I am glad you like them. I was so happy to see that Steve Trevor has rooted hair and not molded hair! Too bad his hands are gloved and they didn't make them come off easily like the Women dolls.

    2. How about rebodying him to another articulated ken's body, like Peeta or Finnick? I wonder if his head will fit.

    3. I will most likely do that, but it would be a shame to waste a perfectly good articulated body! I have swapped hand on the Batman and Superman bodies, so I can do it, it is just a pain!

    4. You're right :) I never swap dolls hands, I was afraid I'll broke plastic parts or something. Did it ever happen to you?

    5. Yes, it has, but I experimented first on older dolls that didn't matter as much plus I did research and got advice from others who had done it. for the Ken hands, I had to heat up the old hands pretty hot to make them very soft and then pulled them off. The old hands are throw away, but I didn't care. I then carefully dremelled out the hole to accommodate the new hands. I replaced the Superman and Batman hands with spare Homme hands. 4. Cała seria jest doskonała! Szczególnie podobają mi się dwie blondynki! Widzę różnicę! Dziewczyna z krótkimi włosami jest zachwycająca! Bardzo mi się podoba!
Gratuluję nowych lalek i pozdrawiam serdecznie!

  5. I have studied them closely and I think they are the same but slightly different makeup styles make the shape of the face look different. I could be wrong but that's what I think. Beautiful dolls though, I'm going to bite the bullet and invest in Antiope, maybe Hippolyta at a later date. I just wish Antiope had a better head of hair, I might have to wig or reroot her.

    1. Barbie Collector lists them as different molds, but they are quite similar. I know what you mean about Antiope's hair, but it is true to the film, so I guess I can't complain and I do like the short hair cut on her!

    2. She's still stunning regardless of the hair though Phyllis, that's just me I'm afraid, I have a bit of a bee in my bonnet about Mattel and how they do their doll hair, especially when they only curl the front that shows when in the box Grrr You mention the hands come off? can you get other hands for Antiope or do you have to rebody her?

    3. I used hands from an older Fashionista that had stiff legs and articulated arms. You could probably also use spare IT hands too.

  6. Great collection!! I love Antiope's face. Her jawline looks stronger than her sister's. The haircut makes her look different as well! Thanks for sharing. Now, I need to revisit my thought as to whether or not to pick up one or two of them.

    1. Haha, I knew I would enable someone to rethink buying them! The lady bodies are different than the original WW doll. They have very muscular legs (which I like!) and they don't have the rotation in the thigh or the upper arm like the MTM bodies.

  7. Two of the full collection. Congratulations. I think the sisters have the same mold, but just painted differently. I like the whole set.

  9. Wow! You are so lucky! Both Queen Hippolyta and Antiope faces look very similar to me, but also in the movie the two actors look quite similar aswell.

  12. Wow, a whole set. These dolls haven't been released in Australia yet so I am learning all about them online first. This is the first time I have seen General Antiope and I do like her face. I agree I think the moulds are different but very similar.
I am also glad to see you are getting better.

    1. Thanks! I think the playline/DC Comic versions are available in Australia as I have seen some posts on Flickr from people I follow there with those dolls. They don't have all of the characters, but they have Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman (at least 3 different versions) and Queen Hippolyta.

  13. Great collection, Phyllis! I love seeing how you transform them into "everyday characters". I absolutely love this whole Barbie Collector series and your photos and love your photos!
I think they are slightly different molds, but it really is hard to tell. I'm excited to add Antiope and the 2pk Trevor/Prince to my collection in the coming weeks!

    1. Yes, I really think they make good "everyday" people! This is one of the sets that I really like in their original state too! I think you will really like the Paradise Island set. The box is pretty amazing too!

  14. Well, I don't really collect Wonder Woman dolls, but I like the faces on yours. When you remove their costumes, they really are an attractive bunch!

  15. Beautiful !! How do you put off hipolita and the queen bod armor please ? I tried with hot boiled water but not results, I’mbtoo afraid to broke their armors

    1. I softened the armour a bit first with a hair dryer, then, very carefully split it at the seams with an Exacto blade. Once I got the splits started, it was relatively easy to pull apart the armour. To put it back on, you would have to either glue it back or use clear bands to hold it together. Since I bought 2 sets, I kept one set completely intact.
